How was Georgia's railroad important during the civil war?
This is for my project,it says to explain this: 1. Discuss Georgia's railroad system and its importance. -how was the rail road important? -what did it do? -what happened to it?

- The railroad was very important. Atlanta was a railroad hub and connected the South together. Some businessmen became millionaires by selling thier goods on the railroad. General Sherman relied on the railroad as a supply line as did the Confederates at the battle of Chickamagua. The railroad system grew and transformed little towns like Marthasville into Atlanta and other towns not connected to railroad died out. The railroad, interstate and air lines still use Atlanta as a transportation hub connecting the south.
